SOME THINGS ARE MEANT TO BE
Why wait to explore your retirement living options? Donna started in her 60s. Now she’s reaping the benefits.

“I was meant to be here and I’ve been here since August 2016. And I’m telling you it is just one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love it.” – Donna Peters, resident of The Fountains at Bronson Place

MEET DONNA PETERS, A WONDERFUL NEIGHBOR, EUCHRE PLAYER AND BAKER OF RHUBARB PIES.

Neighbors at The Fountains at Bronson Place affectionately call her Donna Go-Go, because she loves to do and she loves to go. A Kalamazoo resident all her life, Donna raised four children here before embarking on her 22-year career with Consumers Energy. When her husband of 44 years passed away, Donna lived on her own for five years, the last three of which she spent meticulously planning where she wanted to carry out her next chapters. Facing a final choice between two great communities, she chose The Fountains because “it just felt right.” She’d always wanted an east-facing view and a kitchen with pull-out shelves.

WHY WAIT WHEN YOU CAN HAVE IT NOW?
Having to move and wanting to move are two completely different scenarios. In one case, you have no choice. In the other case, all the choices are yours. With so many wonderful retirement living options to consider these days, shouldn’t you begin exploring them? Join us for our Discovery Luncheon and we’ll give you a flying head start. “They offer so much here in things to do, the activities coordinator here is wonderful. She just seems to hit everybody at different times. She has such a multitude of varied things that she offers that I wanted to be well enough to attend those things and do things and participate. So it made sense to me. That’s one of the reasons that I moved here in my late 60s rather than waiting until I was in my 70s.” – Donna Peters

WHEN YOU’RE TIRED OF BEING TIRED
There’s no magic age. Nobody can tell you it’s time. Tired of living alone, Donna simply started exploring her options and ultimately found the right place for her. “I thought I had to think about the future. I thought I was slowing down physically and I worried about slowing down mentally. What was my plan? What was I going to do? I didn’t want to live with my children. They offered. That was not an option that I wanted to pursue. So then I started looking around at other places because I was tired of responsibility. I was tired of being tired. I started looking around at the retirement villages offered to me.” – Donna Peters

TIMING IS EVERYTHING
A late night knock on her door in Mattawan frightened Donna and got her seriously thinking. It was time to make her move. A week after selling her place, a falling branch damaged the roof. Not her problems anymore. She’s relieved to have such worries behind her, as are her children. “I have one daughter and three sons and the daughter thanked me for making this decision. She said, ‘Mom, thank you for making this decision because we won’t have to make it for you and we know you will be happy with your decision.’” – Donna Peters
