MEET ED AND MARCI MULLER, VOLUNTEERS COMMITTED TO MAKING KALAMAZOO A BRIGHTER PLACE.
You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. (All quotes contained in this post are excerpts from an interview conducted with Ed and Marci Muller on Wednesday, July 18th, 2018. To read the full, un-edited transcript, please click here.)
Kalamazoo residents since 1959, Ed and Marci met at Calvin College. Their various careers included teaching, imports and insurance. These days, when they aren’t enjoying their vacation home on the lake, Ed and Marci might be enjoying an evening at the symphony, dinner with friends or raising more than $500,000 annually for the Kalamazoo Christian School Association through the thrift store they founded 15 years ago. Between their four kids in Kalamazoo, Chicago and Grand Rapids, they have 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, so family is always near and dear to their hearts. Still, Marci finds time for walking, sewing and crosswords and Ed loves to sing and travel. Living at The Fountains at Bronson Place lets them do it all.

ALL IN THE FAMILY
Marci and Ed looked at three communities in Kalamazoo before choosing The Fountains ten years ago. His sister and brother-in-law had chosen The Fountains ten years before that. Marci and Ed chose a residence on the third floor and they thoroughly enjoy the spacious two-bedroom layout featuring high ceilings and everything they need. “We are very blessed that we can still do what we can and we are in pretty good health, we can still drive, we go on trips…We have all the choices in the world and we think this is a great place.” – Ed Muller
PICK YOUR REASON
For Marci and Ed, the reasons to live at The Fountains are numerous, indeed. Marci is amazed at how easy it is to become friends with complete strangers. Ed enjoys the worry-free life. “It is just security that you can pull a switch and somebody will come. If you have something that has to be fixed in your house they will send somebody to come up and do it. Another good thing we like, of course, is underground parking. There’s a lot of reasons to live here.” – Ed Muller
